Grace in the Sweet Mess
Autism, motherhood, and the beauty in imperfect days
Welcome to Grace in the Sweet Mess
Hi! I’m Jenn
I’m a wife, a mom of six, and our youngest—Braxton—is a bright, energetic 8-year-old on the Autism Spectrum. Between raising a big family, running a business, and managing everyday life, most days my world revolves around keeping up with Braxton’s big feelings, big energy, and even bigger heart.
Some days feel overwhelming. Other days, we find our rhythm and thrive. But every single day matters.
Over the years, I’ve learned to celebrate the smallest milestones while also walking through seasons of stress, tears, school meetings, advocacy, and deep self-doubt. I’ve questioned myself more times than I can count—wondering if I was doing enough, saying the right things, or advocating hard enough for my child.
To be honest, much of that season felt heavy.
Before you judge me, know this: I wouldn’t change this life for the world. But I was unprepared. I was uneducated about autism and how deeply it touches everyday life—at home, at school, and in places people take for granted. Before I truly understood the diagnosis, I often felt like I was failing.
The hard mornings.
The sensory overload.
The behaviors no one warns you about.
The emotional roller coaster—both at home and in the classroom.
It was exhausting.
But Grace in the Sweet Mess isn’t about what autism has taken from our family.
It’s about what it has given us.
Braxton has the biggest heart and the most genuine hugs. His smile can stop me in my tracks. He loves fiercely, feels deeply, and experiences the world in a way that’s honest and unfiltered. He is creative, curious, determined, and endlessly imaginative. His laughter fills our home, and his presence has changed the way our entire family understands patience, grace, and unconditional love.
Those little footsteps running through our house?
That sound is something sacred.
I’m often reminded how important self-care is—especially for moms raising children with additional needs. I know it’s true. And yet, like so many moms, I’ve spent years pouring myself into everyone else and leaving very little behind for myself. Sometimes I wonder who I am outside of being “Mom” and “Advocate.”
In the quiet pockets of time I do find, I return to what grounds me—creating calm, cozy, organized spaces. Turning chaos into peace feels like breathing again. A soft corner. A tidy room. A sense of order in a loud world. Our home is more than a place to live—it’s a place of regulation, safety, and healing for our family.
This space is where I’ll share our journey—the challenges, the victories, the hard truths, and the moments that make it all worth it—alongside reflections on motherhood, autism, advocacy, and creating calmer homes for families like ours.
The days can be long.
Some days are really hard.
But they are filled with love, purpose, and moments worth celebrating.
I’m so glad you’re here. 🤍
My mom life is a blend of chaos and grace. As a mom of six, raising a child on the autism spectrum, my days are filled with advocacy, big emotions, small wins, and unconditional love. It’s not always easy—but it’s meaningful, purpose-filled, and rooted in love.
My Work
I’m a professional organizer, blogger, and children’s book author passionate about helping families create calmer homes and kinder conversations. My work blends practical organization with storytelling—offering tools, encouragement, and stories that support emotional regulation, understanding, and everyday life with neurodiverse children.
As I choose to slow down to transition Braxton into homeschooling, I’m learning how to honor this season without losing myself. This chapter looks different, but it’s still deeply rooted in purpose. Through my work, I continue to create, connect, and support our family—finding meaningful ways to show up both as a mother and as myself.
